Bose 601 Speakers
I have done plenty of research because I would have liked to get my home theatre system right the 1st time, and now that I've had my system successfully running for just about 4 months I still need to say the 601's are glorious. I even went as far as to buy two principle millennium which are highly regarded for their build as well as their high fidelity, and I am going to say this, sure the 601's cupboards are made of inexpensive plastic and the binding post aren't of gold, but trust me the money isn't there, it's in the sound. I am stationed in Vienna and have attended over forty Symphonies and as many Opera's. Listen to me when I say that my 601's have turned my home into a performance hall. I hear each instrument as if they where playing live. I did not pay far more than $550 greenbacks for them. My principles on the other hand cost me $800 and they sound slightly better and have a lot more beauty and build but I need a power sub like my 10'' Yamaha subwoofer ( YAM-YSTSW320 ) to get my walls to rock when I hear Bach's great organ pieces, and trust me nothing but ten of down firing power will due. My CD's and DVD's are played now a by twin scanning Sony CD player utilizing an optical wire that runs into my Denon 2803 receiver. This arrangement gives me the best of both worlds. I am getting true symphonic reproductions, and a first-class home theatre system that rumbles my walls, and has me leaping for cover when explosions go off. Great sound leading to correct reproductions. Very efficient drivers are clean, not so tight but crisp. Giant sweet spot allows for less vital placement of system. Oh my goodness, these are the best sounding speakers I've ever heard in my life. Not to mention they are six way with two ( for a total of four ) 8" woofers. Excellent for the room here, it isn't important the Television is tiny any more. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the sound quality is out of these Bose 601 speakers even with an old Yamaha sterio reciever.
